Course summary

This course is designed to help mental health practitioners develop their capability in conducting comprehensive, trauma-informed clinical assessments of emergency workers. It will also assist practitioners to determine Emergency Worker suitability for and capacity to engage in treatment.

Course aims

The aims of this course are to:  

  • Provide a summary of the purposes and methods common in the practice of evidence-based assessment 
  • Summarise key information regarding assessment tools and timelines required of clinicians working within the Community of Excellence network
  • Use learning activities to help consolidate your understanding
  • Provide you with a resource bank of assessment and treatment planning tools, which you can access at any time.
Course learning outcomes

After taking this course practitioners will be able to:

  • Better understand the Centre of Excellence assessment and treatment planning requirements and processes
  • Be more familiar with strategies that will enhance their capacity to conduct comprehensive, trauma-informed clinical assessments with Emergency Workers.
