Course summary

Trauma-focussed Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (TF-CBT) is an evidence-based treatment for Post-traumatic Stress Disorder that aims to help the individual come to terms with trauma through exposure to, and emotional processing of, memories of the event.

Part II of this series extends on the materials explored in Part I (here), and explores in detail the 'how to' of implementing imaginal and in-vivo exposure therapy and trauma-focussed cognitive therapy.  Extensive use is made of authentic case vignettes and demonstration videos.

Course aims

This course aims to deepen practitioner understanding of three components of TF-CBT, by providing detailed instruction in the use of:

  • Imaginal exposure therapy
  • In-vivo exposure therapy
  • Trauma-focused cognitive therapy.
Course learning outcomes

After taking this course practitioners will be able to:

  • Better understand the use of the key trauma-focused elements of this evidence-based treatment
  • Be more familiar with strategies that support them to engage Emergency Workers in this particular form of treatment.
