Course summary

Self-care is of particular importance for health practitioners when they work with the emergency services sector. This course is designed to help practitioners understand the risk factors and impact of vicarious trauma, burnout, and moral injury and employ strategies that will enhance health, wellbeing and resilience.

Course aims

This course aims to help practitioners: 

  • Understand the role of self-care when working with emergency service workers 
  • Enhance and maintain resilience
  • Understand risk factors for and the impact of vicarious trauma, burnout, and moral injury
  • Develop and implement a self-care plan to support their work with emergency service workers.
Course learning outcomes

After taking this course practitioners will be able to:

  • Be more familiar with a range of self-care strategies
  • Have developed a self-care plan for use during their work with Emergency Workers.
