Trauma-informed Practice for Researchers

About this course

Trauma-Informed Practice for Researchers is designed to help researchers conduct research with people who have experienced trauma in a way that is supportive and emotionally safe. Even if you are not explicitly focusing on trauma as part of your research, many research populations are impacted by trauma and may find participating in research distressing.

In this course you will learn about potentially traumatic events, how these events can impact an individual’s wellbeing, and how you as a researcher can minimise re-traumatisation and distress. Importantly, this course will also help researchers manage their own mental health.

By completing this course you will be able to:

  • Explain the concept of Trauma-Informed Practice and recognise its importance
  • Define trauma and recognise its impacts
  • Identify key principles underlying the application of Trauma-Informed Practice
  • Develop strategies for implementing Trauma-Informed Practice relevant to your research.
Who should do this course?
